Cameroon:
Cassava grater and maize grinder

Year of Funding: 2019

An organic farm in the Ayukaba community in the Eyumojock district in Cameroon was established in 2019. The common farm was divided into individual plots for project participants, 50 women, many of whom are single teenage mothers. With funds provided by the 1% Fund, project coordinators were able to purchase a cassava grater and maize grinder, and as well as supplies and tools to cultivate rice, melons, cucumbers and other vegetables. The project participants were also trained in vegetable cultivation. The goal of the project was to provide a sustainable food source and to alleviate poverty for a vulnerable population. Within a year, the project team was able to achieve all their goals, with production of various crops well under way.
